FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO YOU PROVIDE FREE CONSULTATIONS BEFORE ANY DECISIONS ARE MADE?

Yes.  I will be happy to meet with you to determine if we are a good fit for each other and develop a plan together.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOME CARE AND HOME HEALTH CARE?

A Helping Hand provides home care.

Home care is ‘support in the home’ and is helpful for individuals having difficulty performing activities of daily living.  This includes cleaning the house, doing laundry, transportation to and from appointments, shopping for groceries or running errands.  If driving has become difficult, providing transportation to an individual  can lead to a bit more freedom and the chance to get out and about.  If a recent surgery has limited mobility, home care can help when family or friends are not available.

Home health care is necessary when a client requires skilled nursing assistance.  A Helping Hand does NOT provide this kind of care.  Providing medication and medically monitoring an individual needs to be provided by a skilled professional.  ** Not all employees are certified in CNA or CPR.

WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATION?

We provide services Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 5 pm.  Special cases will be considered outside of these hours.

WHY DOES MY LOVED ONE NOT TAKE THE MEDICATION NEEDED?

There are several reasons that people do not take their medications as prescribed, and it’s not always from simply forgetting:

Side effects.
Think they do not need the drug.
Feeling better.
Feel the drug isn’t working.

A Helping Hand will provide the client with medication reminders, along with tracking logs to help keep medication regimens on track. When multiple medications and varying schedules are involved, A Helping Hand will ensure the medication is taken and recorded.

WILL YOU CLEAN MY HOME?

Light housekeeping includes vacuuming, cleaning up the kitchen, wiping down the countertops, and bathrooms.

DO YOU PROVIDE MEDICAL CARE?

A Helping Hand is a non-medical in home care company.    We DO NOT  provide medical care. If you are unsure if your needs are considered medical or non-medical please contact A Helping Hand.  (Not all employees are CNA or CPR certified)

DO YOU CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH INCONTINENCE?

Yes,  it is important to take care to keep skin dry and provide for the client to stay comfortable and healthy.
